Win Tickets To Rezzed Expo 2012

Posted by Ben Cordell 17 Comments

From the team that brought you the annually amazing Eurogamer Expo, Rezzed is making it’s debut this year and we’ve got six tickets to giveaway thanks to our buddies at Eurogamer!

Hosted by by Eurogamer.net and Rock, Paper, Shotgun, Rezzed is a PC and indie game expo where everything on the show floor is playable. The expo will take place at the Brighton Centre on Friday 6th and Saturday 7th July this year and expects to welcome over 5,000 hardcore PC and indie gamers to Brighton’s picturesque seafront.

So what’s on at Rezzed?

  • GAMES! – Aliens: Colonial Marines, Q.U.B.E, Serious Sam 3, Prison Architect, Sniper Elite V2, Stronghold Kingdoms, Warmage Battlegrounds, Xenonauts and more will all be playable.

  • The Leftfield Collection – A curated selection of the expos favourite indie games that you probably haven’t discovered. Yet. Curators include the Rock, Paper, Shotgun editors, Eurogamer’s Tom Bramwell and David Hayward, who runs the Indie Games Arcade at our sister Eurogamer Expo and once brought to our attention a game called “War Twat”.

  • Developer Sessions – Creative Assembly (Total War series) and The Indie Stone (Project Zomboid) are set to give talks, with more to be revealed. You’ll get to hear about progress on new games and updates straight from the people putting them together, and many of our sessions end in a public Q&A so you can ask why they nerfed your favourite class or what they think of DRM.

  • Tournaments – Show off your skills in the gaming tournaments with titles including Quake 2 and Duke Nukem 3D. There’s even a possiblity of a dev or two joining in.

  • And much more – The RPS guys want a board game area; the Eurogamer guys want case mod tutorials (Tom wants to paint Horstachio on his PC); and nobody wants game-themed karaoke but it just might happen. You can also look out for a vendor area where you can buy gaming merchandise, board games, PC hardware and more.

So how can you win these tickets to this incredible event, I hear you ask? There are two ways to enter.

Bastion all the way. Plays excellently, looks great and is a lot of fun. What more do you need!?

Going with Dyson (nowadays it's called Eufloria). Really nice and relaxed gameplay style. Self-described as 'ambient'. Nice success story too; now the creators have got an iPad version and I think it's on the PSN.

Q.U.B.E is the best indie puzzler I've played in a long time. The game is a little short for my liking (want more puzzles) but I was happy with how much it cost for the amount of game that was there. I heard rumblings about DLC so fingers crossed.

Project Zomboid - despite their struggles the game is really looking promising (and would be a killer app with MP)

has to be Bastion - First off its an action role-playing game, i loved the way it had fantasy-themed environments, which gave it depth and allowed your eyes to wonder and not just be on the character or the enemies at hand! There were other things that drawn me to the game like the storyline, weapons, powers and the attack moves. It was a defo must if ya like rpg games and had time to play!

Has to be Project Zomboid for me. Even thought it is in its relitivly early stages the gameplay is just second to none.

The Binding of Isaac! It manages to have the perfect amount of randomness and uncertainty to make every play-through different, and yet runs on underlying systems which ensure that you, the player, still maintain control. It's a great example of how a game can force you to make important decisions without necessarily having to highlight them.

It's got to be Project Zomboid :D The game is everything you want from a zombie survival game and support for modding is nothing short of brilliant for a pre-alpha game. Plus, it's the first community I actively engage in. Love it. Yeah, even you acex222, I see you down there!

Hard question but at the moment it has to be SpaceChem Zachtronics Industries. i am so looking forward to this event especially because of Alien Colonial Marines but i am also exited to see what indie game i have not found yet :D Alfie Shine

Definatly Frozen Synapse all the way !!!!

Very difficult decision. VVVVVV probably. The incredible art style, sheer amount of content and superb soundtrack all make a refreshing and addictive platformer.

It took me a while to decide, but I guess it has to be Achron. Multiplayer timetravel rts... so awesome.

I think I'll go for Blueberry Garden. Such a tough choice but Blueberry Garden is a wonderful combination of art and game mechanics. I'd find it hard to recommend but it is 20 minutes of weird little arty platformer that I wouldn't trade for all the Starcraft in Korea.

My favourite indie has to be Project Zomboid. I've flooded so many hours of my life into that game since I found it at version 1.4, and probably even more hanging out on the indie stone's forums, with the members (#13 highest post count!). Especially with the modding, I must have put so many hours into coding and scrapping it when I suddenly screw up the code.

*And the members of The Indie Stone are awesome people, I'd love to have the chance to hang out with them and ask a bunch of questions.

Call me old fashioned, but I'd have to say Cave Story. I love all of the characters, the gameplay and of course, the music is just incredible. Quote is a badass.

I think my favourite indie game has got to be Frozen Synapse. It's the only strategy game that I can play without my brain caving in on itself.
